The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth.

In the Albertine Rift WCS is focusing on three key areas of support for conservation: 1) Landscape conservation and ensuring functional landscapes with their full suite of species; 2) Species conservation, identifying priority areas for biodiversity conservation as well as understanding the ecological requirements of landscape species; and 3) tackling challenges that threaten the ability to manage for the conservation of these landscapes and species. We specialize in providing high quality information and technical advice (ecological and social) to protected area authorities and their partners and we are involved in building the capacity of the protected area authorities, government and civil society in all countries in the Albertine Rift to address the various challenges they face.  We are the only NGO to have worked in all of the landscapes of the Albertine Rift, Africa’s most biodiverse region, and one of the most biodiverse sites on Earth.
