A new study just published in Biological Conservation shows that on average the endemic species of the Albertine Rift have already lost 38% of their suitable habitat to agriculture and settlement and that it is predicted that climate change will cause a further loss of 76% of suitable habitat by 2080. Given these changes of the 162 endemic species assessed, 46% should be classified as globally threatened.
